This topic is about Citation & Documenting information sources.


I had learnt about summarizing, paraphrasing and quoting. Summarizing is a thing that you put the main idea into your own words, including only the main point. The word sounded like English subject right. But this is information literacy. Summaries are significantly must be shorter than the original form. For paraphrasing are to involves putting a passage from source material into your own words. Paraphrases are usually shorter than original form, but may be the same length as the original form. For quoting is to use the author’s words exactly. We are also needed to use quotation marks only for short quotations. The different between summarizing, paraphrasing and quoting is quoting must be identical to the original.

TOPIC FOUR !

This topic four is about Introduction to Citation. I had learnt about citation, bibliography or reference and plagiarism. Bibliography is a list of books and other materials which have some relationship to each other such as the author, title, place of publication, year of publication and publisher. For plagiarism is using other idea and words without clearly acknowledging the source of the information. Citation is like APA style. First time she told to me about APA style, I do not knew anything. But now, I already knew some of their function. APA is means American Psychological Association. I also learnt about the differences between methods of source integration summarizing, paraphrasing, and quoting. APA style is provides a guidelines for publication in Social Science Journals such as Psychology, Sociology, Education, and Nursing. APA style also used for case study, research reports, term papers, methodology and others.

TOPIC THREE !

This topic, we learnt about Search Strategies Basic.

First strategy :
Brainstorming for search term is the topic that I had learnt. What I know about this topic is when we’re first starting to formulate your research to question, it can help us to brainstorming keyword that are synonymous with or related to the major concepts of our topic. We also can try to create a hierarchy of the concept to our research topic. It’ll give us more flexibility.

Second strategy :
Boolean operators are also in this Search Strategies Basic. Boolean operators is a named for George boole. He is a mathematician and he is dead in year 1864. Boolean operators is a combining term such as AND, OR and NOT used in building a search statement or in putting several sets together. We also can called it Boolean searching. Boolean searching can allowed us to group words together in an electronic database or environment such as the World Wide Web to receive a number of different types of results. Most of the search engines on the World Wide Web can allowed us to use some form of boolean searching. This is the examples of Boolean searching:-

TOPIC TWO !

In this topic, we study about the sources to get the information. The information come from many sources that is classify as primary, secondary and tertiary. We must memorize to know what is primary, secondary and tertiary and it getting hard to me. It easy but life as a boy that always keep it as small matter make it hard. I realized and hope I can change it.

Next, learnt about library system or familiar with the name OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) that is the system in the library that can help us to find the book, borrow and know our detail in library. We also learnt about DDC and LCC that is the code at the book in library.


we still learnt about searching tools and we focus on library searching tools. We use OPAC if we are in library but it different if we just want to borrow it online because we doesn't have time to go to library. In AIU, we have http://www.italic.aiu.edu.my/ as library online system to borrow and checkout our book from library. It make our live easy. That is the advantages of technology.

We also learnt about the search engines in internet to find our information. There are many of search engines and the famous one is google. Never argue that internet can make our life easiest.
 

This topic also, we learnt about online database. My lecturer told us that online database have two type, which are simple and advanced. Online Database is also available through the library portal. Online database have subject or topic, keyword and full text. An online database is a database accessible from a network, including from the Internet.

TOPIC ONE !

For this topic, we had learnt about what is literacy ? we know that literacy is important to us for find an information and to finish our task. Miss also teach us about big 6 (Information Literacy Process Model) that is very important and it was the step to get information and to finish a task or project.

My lecturer also explained in detail about this Big 6 .

From this topic, I am able to understand that Information Literacy are important. Other than that, it is important to locate information in a variety formats.

3rd Trimester

Assalamualaikum ,

I'm now in last trimester for foundation studies and this trimester I take Information Literacy for my IT subject . Look what we learn for this Information Literacy . :D

WEEK 10

Hye , WEEK 10 is the last week for learning and this week also the topic already finished with the last topic LO6 WEB APPLICATION.

A web application is a piece of software.
Examples : Google Documents, Windows Live Hotmail, Turbo Tax online and etc.

Web browsers are software application that allow users to retrieve data and interact with content located on web pages within a wbsite.
Examples of browsers : Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Netscape and etc.

This is week we are needed to make a Google Sites as a final assessment. My grooup already decide to create AiU Thumbprint Scanner google site.

  From this chapter, I had know some new thing and information. It is about Web 1.0 and Web 2.0. I also know the diffirentciate between both web. By using this web, it can run on the internet on your computer, phone and other electronic device.
    If  you want to acsess internet, you need a web browser. It is a software that can allow people to receive data and inteact with others. There are variety of web browser. Such as :-

WEEK 9

Hye Guys, see again in week 9, for this week I learnt new topic. LO 5. This LO 5 is all about INTERNET.

 

Internet is about NETWORK and the largest in the world that connects people/organization all over the world. 

The uses is to find the information, access, upload, dowanload and many things. Before this I though Internet is Internet but it first called ARPANET in 1969 and it change to INTERNET from 1980 until now. 

Internet Service : E-MAIL

Email is an electronic mail that allow messages to be exchanged from computer to computer.

Examples : Yahoo, Gmail, MSN, Hotmail

Internet Service : The Web

The Web created by Tim Berners Lee and it contain hypertext links or highlighted keywords and images lead to information. 


IT Services : Transfer Protocol
 Transfer Protocol is the set of rules/ software that computers use to move files from one computer to another computer on the internet. Normally, they use Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) and FTP.

IT Services : Chat Room
Chat Room is a channel/ medium/ location on Internet that allow people to chat with each other.
Examples : Real Chat, Yahoo Message Chat Room, AOL Chat Room.

IT Services : VOIP
VOIP is to make a phone call by Internet.
Examples : Yahoo Voice, Skype, NetMeeting

News Group is an electronic bulletin board to conduct discussion about specific topic or subject.
Examples : Newsreader
